私の仕事

As you can see from my job title, I'm responsible for two jobs: environmental management and public relations.
Environmental management involves managing the company-wide application of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System we were certified for in 1999. Essentially, this means that I back initiatives being undertaken in each department in line with the company's environmental policy, and supervise the environmental progress of the company as a whole.
On the other hand, public relations entails both the in-house information management, like issuing our company newsletter and collecting media clippings, and externally-oriented public relations such as designing company information and our website, as well as writing press releases. My role is to make sure that our customers − and everyone outside the company − have the right idea about what kind of company Hikari Miso is, as well as to make sure that everyone inside the company knows what top management is thinking, and understands our company direction. It's a tough job. There's always more to do!

Motivation

The first job I had when I joined the company was to put together the environmental management system. I remember studying up on the system even as I was building it. And again, when I was handed my next area, public relations − the website and company newsletter and the like − there were times when I gathered information, racked my brains, and cooperated with people from both within and without the company to get even one thing finished. But when those jobs do get done, I feel relieved and at the same time a sense of achievement.
Even though I don't participate directly in the making of the food products, my role still involves making things one by one, which I think is typical of Hikari Miso, and one more small step to building the Hikari Miso brand.

Why I chose Hikari Miso

I imagine my previous job in the food industry had something to do with it, but my primary reason for choosing this company is the fact that they believe a woman's unique perspective is valuable in a food manufacturing job.
At this company they're not stuck in traditional methods of making miso. There's a company spirit of always bringing in new ways of doing things. I think the great thing about this company is the fact that if you've just got the motivation, you can widen the scope of your work or take your specialization to extremes.
