Hikari Miso Bolsters Its Lineup with Five New Products, Including a 10-Serving Value Pack of Instant Miso Soup

07.27.2009

On July 21, Hikari Miso released three new 10-serving value-pack products in our "Kodawattemasu Nihon no Aji" series of instant miso soups: "Awase Misoshiru" (mixed miso soup) "Shiro Misoshiru" (white miso soup) and "Genen Misoshiru" (reduced-salt miso soup). We also released a new Japanese-style soy milk soup product called "Wafu Tonyu Shitate" in our "Genmai to Goshu no Kokumotsu wo Oishiku Taberu Soup" series of soups made from brown rice and five other types of grain. On August 1, moreover, we released a compact four-cup package of instant miso soup in our "Attaka Kazoku no Omisoshiru" line.

The new products in the Kodawattemasu Nihon no Aji series of instant miso soup are 10-serving value packs that come with an assortment of three ingredients. The flavor of the three products is provided by a perfect blend of three types of dashi — katsuo (bonito), konbu and iriko (small toasted sardines). Hikari Miso’s objective was to come up with additional varieties of value-priced instant miso soups that would still taste great. We have done it with these delicious soups, which are priced attractively enough to enjoy them anytime, in place of regular miso soup.
Awase Miso Soup uses a blend of rich-flavored Shinshu red miso and refreshingly sweet Shinshu white miso, for a wonderfully full-bodied aroma and deep flavor. Shiro Misoshiru uses Shinshu white miso, known for a refreshing sweetness and a rich and mellow flavor. Having a mild taste yet robust umami, Shiro Misoshiru abounds in true miso flavor. Genen Misoshiru, made with a blend of Shinshu red miso and Shinshu white miso, offers robust flavor but with less salt. In fact, one serving of Genen Misoshiru contains 25% less sodium than a serving of the Awase Misoshiru in this series. So, even persons who have to watch their salt intake can still make miso soup a healthy part of an enjoyable diet.

The four-cup "Attaka Kazoku-no Omiso Shiru" contains four servings of instant miso soup in a compact package. The space-saving package is convenient to carry and store, making it handy for camping or for a quick snack at the office.
Shinshu miso and katsuo dashi make for a refreshing flavor that soothes and satisfies.

"Wafu Tonyu Shitate," made with wholesome soy milk, is the latest addition to Hikari Miso’s popular series of "Genmai to Goshu no Kokumotsu wo Oishiku Taberu Soup," introduced last year. The healthful and hearty soups in this series are made from brown rice and cereal grains, making them a satisfying and filling choice for a light breakfast or as a meal for weight watchers.
"Wafu Tonyu Shitate" parlays the full aroma and mild sweetness of soy milk into a mellow flavor. The cream-colored soup is colorfully garnished with four different ingredients: fluffy egg, cabbage, carrot and leek.
