Last September, Hikari Miso Co., Ltd. completed certification under the ISO 22000 international food safety guidelines.
In recent years, responding to consumersf rising concerns about food safety, food companies have implemented traceability systems such as the ISO 9001 quality management system and the HACCP system to reassure consumers about the safety of the their food products. In the midst of this, last September, we were certified under the even higher ISO 22000 standard for food safety management systems, issued by the International Standards Organization (ISO), which establishes and carries out international standards and criteria.
As a food safety initiative, our company adopted the HACCP hygiene management system in 1998. In addition, in terms of general quality control, in August 2000 we completed certification under the ISO 9001 quality management system standard, and have been making products to satisfy our customers, and implementing systems to meet their demands for food safety. Perceiving well in advance the movement towards ISO 22000, we supplemented our existing HACCP system with the ISO 9001 quality management system standard, allowing us to complete certification for ISO/DIS (Draft International Standard) 22000, the draft stage of the ISO 22000 standard, in September 2004. Then, in a maintenance inspection undertaken in the first May following the issue of ISO 22000, we were authorized to pass from DIS to ISO, and certification was completed on July 1st.
By using both the ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 systems, our company reliably delivers both high quality safe products and peace of mind to our customers.
